Memorial Community Health in Aurora is proud to honor Bobbi Jo Sandberg, RN, as a recipient of the DAISY Award, a national recognition program that celebrates nurses who demonstrate extraordinary clinical skill, compassion and dedication to patients and their families.
Sandberg was nominated by patients who praised her professionalism, attentiveness and compassionate approach to care. One patient described Sandberg as “one of the most professional, caring nurses I’ve ever had,” noting that she was attentive not only to the patient but also to their spouse. Despite caring for multiple patients in the emergency department, Sandberg remained thorough, responsive and reassuring. The patient also praised her intelligence and cheerful personality, adding that she answered every question they had — and even anticipated questions they did not know to ask. “We feel extremely lucky to have Bobbi Jo as our nurse,” the patient wrote.
Another patient shared that Bobbi Jo’s calm, friendly demeanor helped them feel at ease, writing, “She worked efficiently and thoroughly and put up with my sick-person humor.”
Sandberg has been a nurse at Memorial Hospital for more than 16 years, providing care in a variety of areas, including hospital inpatient and emergency department care, as well as supporting outpatient clinics for visiting specialists.
“Bobbi Jo has a genuine gift for connecting with patients and their families,” said Shelly Graham, MSN, RN, Director of Nursing for Memorial Hospital and Sandberg’s supervisor. “She combines clinical skill with compassion and a steady, reassuring presence that helps people feel safe and cared for. We are grateful for the difference she makes in the lives of our patients.”
Through her clinical knowledge, caring personality and ability to bring comfort — and even a bit of humor — to difficult moments, Sandberg exemplifies the compassionate care recognized by the DAISY Award.
