Occupational therapists treat patients who experience problems that impair their ability to perform day-to-day activities. The goal of Memorial Hospital’s occupational therapy team is to enable patients to participate in the activities of everyday life.

Memorial Hospital’s occupational therapists provide treatment to many patient groups including:
- Hospital Patients – Occupational therapy provides patients with training on self-care skills which may have been compromised due to illness, injury, or surgery.
- Nursing Home Residents – Occupational therapy ensures the quality of life of the residents and promotes their independence.
- Wheelchair Users – Occupational therapists work to prevent the problems associated with an improperly fitted wheel chair.
- Outpatients – Occupational therapists provide continued rehab for people who have sustained an injury or are returning to the community following hospitalization. We also fabricate hand/wrist splints if ordered by a physician.
- Home Bound Patients – Occupational therapists help find ways to make people’s home environment safer, allowing them to remain there as long as possible.
