Memorial Hospital Receives Green Cape Award

April 13, 2022

Memorial Hospital received the Green Cape Award from Live On Nebraska for being a champion for the ultimate act of generosity—organ and tissue donation.”

Memorial Hospital staff accept Green Cape AwardMemorial Hospital in Aurora was presented with the Green Cape Award by Live On Nebraska on April 8, 2022 following an informational presentation to MCHI employees about organ and tissue donation. The plaque, presented by Live On Nebraska Donation Services Specialist Kelsey York, states that, “Memorial Hospital was selected for the award for transcending the scope of normal duties during a donor case and being a champion for the ultimate act of generosity—organ and tissue donation.”

Live On Nebraska presents its Green Cape Award monthly to an individual or individuals who go above and beyond to make donation a reality. The award is given to caregivers who provide exceptional patient care, tirelessly support and advocate for the donor’s decision to help others, show extreme compassion, and go out of their way to collaborate with the Live On Nebraska team. Their hard work and dedication save hundreds of lives each year and helps each donor leave a legacy of generosity.

The award presentation comes during National Donate Life Month, which brings national attention to the need and importance of organ, eye and tissue donation. National Donate Life Month is about the importance of registering your decision to be a donor, and honoring deceased and living donors — recognizing that the generosity of donors makes saving lives through transplantation possible.

Those who have registered as a donor at the DMV will see a heart on their driver’s license. Individuals can also register online any time at LiveOnNebraska.org or by calling Live On Nebraska for a printed registration card. Anyone who is at least 16 years old can register regardless of their health. Live On Nebraska can be reached by phone at 402-733-1800, by email at info@liveonnebraska.org, or online at LiveOnNebraska.org.
