Memorial Community Health in Aurora is pleased to announce the launch of its new Outpatient Nasal Suctioning Services, designed to support infants experiencing respiratory illness and help families manage symptoms safely and effectively close to home.
This specialized service provides gentle nasal or nasopharyngeal suctioning with saline to relieve mucus buildup, which can make breathing and feeding difficult for young children—especially those diagnosed with conditions such as bronchiolitis or respiratory viruses.
Available for babies up to 24 months of age, the service is offered at Memorial Hospital on an outpatient basis and requires a provider order. Referrals are accepted from Memorial Health Clinic providers as well as other medical clinics throughout the surrounding region, making this one of the few services of its kind in Nebraska.
“Respiratory illnesses in infants can be overwhelming for families, particularly when symptoms impact a child’s ability to breathe and eat,” said Taylor Woodman, RRT, Respiratory Therapy Manager. “Our outpatient suctioning services are designed to provide timely relief, expert assessment, and guidance for caregivers—helping children recover more comfortably while avoiding unnecessary hospital visits whenever possible.”
During each visit, a respiratory therapist assesses the child’s condition, performs suctioning if needed, and provides caregivers with education on at-home techniques. If symptoms indicate a more serious condition, patients are promptly escalated for additional care.
The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. More information is available on our Respiratory Therapy web page or by calling our Respiratory Therapy Department at 402-694-8332.
Memorial Hospital remains committed to expanding access to essential healthcare services and supporting families with compassionate, high-quality care close to home.
