Memorial Community Health held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch on April 26 at The Leadership Center in Aurora, honoring the many volunteers who donate their time and talents in support of Memorial Community Care, East Park Villa, and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop.
Donna Goertzen, who generously gives of her time to volunteer at East Park Villa, was honored as the recipient of the 2025 Marilyn Wortman Volunteer Appreciation Award. As a resident of East Park Villa, staff know they can always count on Donna to volunteer whenever the need arises. When she learned that residents enjoy reading the morning paper in their apartments and a carrier was needed, Donna quickly volunteered to make early morning deliveries throughout the building. She then took on delivering the weekly Aurora News-Register to apartments as well. Donna takes complete responsibility for anything she agrees to help with and is a true friend to those who might be in need of support and encouragement. Like Marilyn Wortman herself, Donna truly has a heart of compassion and genuine love of helping others and exemplifies all the qualities of a great volunteer.
